2 months old!

Weighing in at an impressive 13 pounds, 9 1/2 ounces, 22 1/2 inches long, and a noggin of 16 inches, Daniel J. Ryba is 2 months old today!  We can't believe 2 months have gone by, Daniel has changed so much and is such a joy!  He still loves to eat and takes 4 sometimes 5 ounces; he still does NOT like to burp and will complain loudly in your ear if you request a burp too soon.  He smiles a lot, especially to singing (even Daddy's), lifts his head from his tummy and loves to hold your hands to sit up.  He is starting to respond to toys and will hold a toy if you put it in his hand.  Oh, and he is sleeping through the night (*knocking on wood)!  He was a champ at his well visit today.  Dr. Davis was impressed with his ability to tuck in his chin when pulled up to sitting and all the cooing and "talking" he was doing.  His growth and development is "right on track." He had to get his first round of vaccines today, three injections total, and he cried just for a second on the last injection, making mommy very proud and relieved.

Nice head lift!
Num, Num, I like my hand.

The Firsts continued....SMILEY GUY!

Well, we finally got some good pictures of Daniel's sweet smile, getting easier now that he is smiling a whole lot more!  We also went out for dinner as a family to Buffalo Wild Wings and he slept the whole time! (okay, it was only like 45 minutes, but still a success!)  He also watched his first Bears game with Daddy.

This is the best shot so far, love the tongue sticking out!

A Bears loss?  DOH!

The First...

Cousin Playdate.  Yia Yia helped me host a get together with Auntie Lindsay with Jack, Cousin Jami with AJ and Logan, Auntie Peggy, Auntie Robin with Christopher and Cousin Thea.  It was fun getting the boys together.  Christopher was moving all over the place, Jack was full of smiles, Daniel snoozed with Buddy and Logan was a hungry guy even though he is such a little peanut!  AJ is a great big brother and will rule the roost with these guys.  Fun to think that this time next summer they will all be running around in the backyard.

Bath at home! At first, Daniel was not a big fan of the bathtime experience, but as soon as he was able to be in a "big boy" tub, he started to enjoy it.  In fact, bathtime has become a nightly ritual and he has even started to sleep through the night over the past week (knock on wood).  Thank you to Auntie Lindsay for the suggestion.

Big boy bath!

SMILE!  Daniel officially smiled for the first time on July 30th and it melted my heart.  Now he is smiling all the time but we have yet to truly capture it in a photo, though not for lack of trying even with Daddy getting a new camera.  He loves to hear Mommy's singing, especially Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, ABCs, and Itsy Bitsy Spider and he loves to have his belly rubbed and his arms and legs cycled.  His smile "starts in his eyes," as Gramma would say, and he gets a big grin across those chubby cheeks.  Sometimes he even sticks out his tongue.  He is especially smily in the morning, after a nap and when Daddy gets home and of course in his sleep after a bottle!  He is getting very close to giggling but hasn't yet, kinda of says "Ha" sometimes.  Here are a few pictures showing him smiling but doesn't even compare to when you see it for real!

Loves being naked!

Almost got it this time!

Holy S#!%, IT'S A BOY!

It has been just over seven weeks that Daniel Jackson Ryba made us the happiest couple in the world!  In just that short time he has already changed and grown so much and we are having so much fun (most of the time!) as new parents.  Here is a look back at Baby Daniel's arrival.

Going to the hospital!

After a wonderful pregnancy and almost a week overdue, induction was planned for Friday.  Luckily, labor started Wednesday afternoon and by midnight we were heading to Hinsdale Hospital.

It was a relatively comfortable labor (thank you epidural) overnight and by 11:30 a.m. it was "go time."  After a long and challenging delivery, we welcomed Daniel Jackson Ryba on June 17, 2010 at 4:07 p.m.

Our perfect little boy weighed in at 8 lbs 9 oz, 21.5 inches long.

Going home
Daddy was VERY surprised and excited to have a boy hence the title of this post and has embraced his inner child buying Transformers, starting Daniel's collection.

Baby Daniel joins the Ryba family as the first grandson and is loved very much by his cousins, the Ryba princesses: Sammi, Lyssie, Evelyn and Frankie-O.

Love that Schmoogie face!
Happy Father's Day!
What an awesome first Father's Day for Dan, to bring home his son.  Our other new arrival was our nephew, Jack Michael Kukla born May 21, 2010.  Although the due dates were five days apart, Jack is one month older than Daniel. We are all so excited to see these two cousins grow up and be best buddies.  "Jack--Daniel"
